    2003 Egg Drop Competition

    DESIGN STATEMENT:

    Design and build a shipping container that will prevent an uncooked grade A large chicken egg from breaking when dropped from an approximate height of 10 meters.

    DESIGN PARAMETERS:

    Eggs will be provided by SWE. The container must have no dimension longer than 25 cm, including parachute. Maximum weight including the egg cannot exceed 1 kg. Contestants must be able to remove the egg without damage.

    TESTING CONDITIONS:

    Each model will be measure, weighed and drop-tested from a ten-meter height. Each model will be evaluated by:

    (W + L)

    W = Weight in gm
    L = Longest dimension in cm
    S = Success factor (100 if egg does not break, 0 is egg breaks)

    PRIZES:

    Prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third places and a Prize will be awarded for Most Creative Design (regardless of breakage).

    Only one entry per person. Must be in person to enter contest. Decisions of judges are final.
