Gathering data in orbit
The challenge: Learning how fluids behave in zero gravity
The solution: Via the SpaceX Dragon rocket, Maseeh students delivered an experiment testing fluid characteristics to the International Space Station. Students were able to communicate with astronauts to guide them step-by-step through the research protocol. The experiment was the 50th sent into space by Portland State, one of a few select universities with a connection to NASA and a control center with a direct link to the International Space Station.
Why it matters: This research could affect how fuel systems are designed for future space travel.
Where it matters: The universe!
